Broadcasting pioneer and legend Tom Snyder, who passed away Sunday, July 29, came to Cleveland in 1978 to interview then-Mayor Dennis Kucinich. It was "classic" Tom Snyder, and we offer this video to pay tribute to him and to the style and approach that set him apart from other broadcasters. "Tom Snyder was an innovator and a very serious journalist who really mastered the in-depth analytical interview," Congressman Kucinich said on hearing of Snyder's passing. "He was very funny, he was bold…it was an honor to be on his show. He asked tough questions, and I will miss him, " said Kucinich . We all will. And here's an example of why. Click here for the video

If ever there was evidence that politically motivated lies led us into Iraq – resulting in the deaths of more than 3,700 U.S. troops and an estimated million Iraqis killed or wounded – take a look at what then-Defense Secretary Dick Cheney said in 1994 about the potential for a “quagmire” if the U.S. invaded Iraq and toppled Saddam Hussein.

I am with you, my fellow peace advocates in DC, in spirit as I am about to speak at a peace rally in Heidelberg, Germany.
Yesterday I visited some of our fallen troops in Landstuhl Military Hospital. We must end this carnage and truly support our troops by bringing them home and building true structures for peace.

The House on Friday passed the controversial supplemental appropriations bill, H.R. 1591, by a vote of 218 to 212, in Roll Call 186.

Today as the Democratic leadership celebrates the passage of HR 1591, Dennis and I are in mourning. We mourn the deaths of those who have passed and those whose lives are now on the line, both in the military and civilian Iraqis. We mourn the destruction, the ecocide. We mourn with families in Iraq and the US who will see more death and devastation. We mourn the callous and calculated political spin cloaking the Congress's hawkish support of war with the rhetoric of peace.

Kucinich Wants to Hear From the American People
"I don't think that it's wise for the House and the Congress, for co-equal branches of government, to essentially give the President carte blanche in his decision making by saying no matter what you do, impeachment is off the table."
Congressman Kucinich was asked about impeachment Wednesday in a live interview with Amy Goodman on Democracy Now! Kucinich continued,

Federal lawmakers took aim at oil companies and service station owners Friday, accusing them of cheating customers by ignoring fuel's tendency to expand with higher temperatures. U.S. motorists could pay an extra $1.5 billion this summer because of it, they said.
It is a little-known industry secret that the amount of gasoline you put in your tank when you fill up in the summer is less than the amount in the winter, in terms of weight and energy content," said Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-Ohio), who conducted a congressional hearing on the issue Friday.

And thank you for all the good time and great passion over this site. I am missing it already. Hopefully we’ll find a forum to keep the good work up. Surely John will do the bets thing for the issues we care about that he alone made central to this otherwise boring 2008 campaign. All the best to all of you.
Onward!
