It's time to get scared- very scared. Big government has run wild- and is trampling the rights of the American people (and parents). If the following story doesn't scare you- you deserve Big Brother as your master. And it's only going to get worse. The morality police are turning our country into a Nanny State. These government bureaucrats (most of whom couldn't get hired in the private sector) actually believe they know better than you or me about how to live our lives, educate and raise our children, and let's not forget the biggest one of all- how to indoctrinate our children (a nice way of saying BRAINWASH our children). Big Brother wants to control what women do with their own bodies; determine what Americans can do in the privacy of our own bedrooms; tell all of us what we are allowed to do on our own computers (Internet freedom); how and when we die (the Terri Schiavo government intrusion); they want to re-create Prohibition (by banning online gaming and poker); arrest us for using medicinal marijuana with a doctor's prescription (even in a state like California where it has been legalized by the voters); tell us what we can put into our own bodies (ban smoking, Trans Fats and Foie Gras- even in privately owned restaurants); banish guns from our own private homes (in violation of the constitution); and force us to immunize our school-age children- by threatening to banish them from the classroom. The list of restrictions on our liberties goes on and on.

This weekend I heard about the most ominous government intrusion yet- in Prince George County, Maryland, where school officials playing Big Brother have ordered parents to vaccinate their school-aged children, or the parents will be IMPRISONED. Yes I said imprisoned. Let's pause for a second, take a deep breath, and reflect on the quagmire called the public school system. First of all, our public schools are failing miserably compared to any other industrialized country in the world. Children are dropping out of high school in record numbers; and even those that pass high school are often promoted only due to grade inflation. Drugs and violence are rampant within public schools. Cases of teachers molesting and sexually assaulting under-age children seem to be in the headlines on a daily basis. Our children are far behind in math and science versus high school graduates from other countries. Public teacher unions demand raises and increased spending as a reward for horrible performance- and refuse any form of accountability or pay based on merit. And worst of all, powerful teachers unions hold our children hostage by refusing to allow competition. They will not allow a level playing field- by refusing to allow vouchers or parental choice (so that parents in even the worst schools in the country are denied the opportunity to choose private school, religious school, or home-schooling).

I was watching the NBC Evening News last night when up pops Billionaire Warren Buffett telling viewers how he is under-taxed and therefore "the rich" should be paying higher taxes. Buffett claimed that all his employees- including secretaries- pay higher tax rates than him. Of course the liberal media never bothered to question him on his assertion. They never bothered to point out how misleading his comments were. They never bothered to present a fair and balanced, non-biased counterpoint. It seems that only fiscal conservatives who support smaller government and lower taxes are ever "fact-checked" and face hostile questions in the interest of "fairness" by the left-wing news media. I should know. I've been there many times before. I served in the media as anchorman and host of five shows on CNBC (then known as Financial News Network). And since my days ended as a member of the media, I've been a guest on hundreds of television and radio shows in that same national media spotlight. It's so easy to spot the bias and hypocrisy- when liberals are interviewed by the media, they are treated with kid gloves. No hostile questions, no balancing of the story by reporting what others with a different point of view have to say. No objective for "fairness." Just allow Warren Buffett to slam the rich and demand higher taxes on success (otherwise known as "income redistribution"). Afterall a Billionaire couldn't be biased, could he? He couldn't have an ulterior agenda, could he? Certainly not if he's a LIBERAL Billionaire.

When conservatives are interviewed by the media, it's a completely different story. Conservative guests must be aggressively questioned and debated to create a "sense of balance." Suddenly a counter-point must be presented at all costs to avoid looking biased. But where's the need for balance and a counter-point of view when the liberal media agrees with their liberal guests? The answer is- there is none. Warren Buffett's interview on NBC was a great example of the disparity. Buffett's assertions went unchallenged by NBC, or the reporter for the segment Tom Brokaw (yes the old NBC anchor who recently retired).

I am so fed up with the liberal lies and distortions about capital gains and "giveaways to the rich." Liberal Presidential contenders like Barack Obama, John Edwards and Hillary Clinton are jumping over each other to announce new tax increases for "the rich." They say it as if being "rich" is a dirty word. As if being "rich" is something Americans deserve to be punished for. We all know that certain words are off limits- curse words, ethnic slurs, derogatory stereotypes, etc. Maybe it's time to declare the "R Word" a slur and declare it off-limits. Maybe we should replace that dirty, negative, demeaning word "rich" with more positive terms like successful, high-achiever, super-achiever, or "All-American role model." Now you can clearly see how important wording is. The masses support "taxing the rich." But few Americans would rush to support punishing "successful high-achievers." No one wants to punish "All-American role models." It's all in the wording and presentation. You may hate and envy "the rich," but we all aspire to become "successful."

Liberals use negative wording to try to pit the classes against one another to stir up anger, jealousy, envy, resentment- and most of all VOTES. That's how liberal Democrats get elected- by dividing Americans by income, class or race. And what's their number one whipping boy? Capital gains. All the Democrat Presidential candidates want to raise taxes on capital gains. Why? Once again, it's all in the wording. Liberals position capital gains as "dirty" and negative. This is money that rich people use to get richer. How evil! "We can't allow this" the liberals cry, whine and protest. Worse, they say, is the fact that capital gains are taxed at a lower rate than your income. GASP. "We cannot allow this" liberals cry, whine and protest. They position it this way so that poor people, blue collar workers, union members, and lower middle class Americans will all grow to hate rich people- but most of all, they'll grow to hate the investments of rich people. "How dare rich people invest in homes, stocks, and small businesses- while I barely have enough money for food and rent. It isn't fair. And worst of all- the rich get taxed lower on their passive million dollar investment returns, than I do on my $700 weekly paycheck for working 40 hours a week." What a powerful (and effective) sound bite. But it's also a complete distortion of the facts. I call it THE BIG LIBERAL LIE.

Democrats are alot like Robin Hood. They claim it's a good deed to steal from the rich to give to the poor. But guess what? No matter how you explain it, defend it, or twist the meaning around like a pretzel, it's still called STEALING! They try to say that it's no different than Republicans giving tax cuts to the rich- they call that a "giveaway." They call tax cuts "unfair." But Democrats have lost sight of one little fact- that money belongs to the taxpayers in the first place! It's not a "giveaway" when you allow someone to keep a little bit of their own money!

Let's use children playing marbles as a good example. Wayne has 10 marbles. His friend John steals 5 of those 10. Then he takes pity on Wayne and gives him back 2 of his own marbles. Is that a "giveaway" to Wayne? Was John being nice to "allow" Wayne to take back ownership of 2 of his own marbles? Weren't they Wayne's property in the first place? What a generous fellow that John is- he allows you to keep some of your own property. John is obviously a Democrat. He certainly thinks like a liberal Democrat about money, taxes and the concept of property.

My name is Wayne Allyn Root. I am a Libertarian Conservative candidate for President of the United States. But I am NOT your typical conservative politician- actually my credentials sound quite liberal. I am a Jewish New Yorker with an Ivy League degree from Columbia University who has achieved my wealth and success in Hollywood and Las Vegas (in the television business). I have spent the last 18 years as a network anchor, host, television producer, and non-stop cable talk show guest. I've gotten to know and understand the liberal news media and the "intellectual elite" up close and personal. I understand their agenda. And the picture is not pretty. It can be summed up with the controversial decision by my alma mater Columbia University to invite a terrorist murderer to speak in front of the student body on September 24th- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. It is typical of Columbia University and it's leaders to hide behind the defense of "freedom of speech" to support this disgraceful decision. But it is a complete bogus lie. This fraud represents liberal hypocrisy at its most disingenuous and arrogant.

I too support free speech. But there are exceptions. Not for terrorists who openly call for the destruction and annihilation of America and our ally Israel. Not for Holocaust deniers. Not for the leader of a nation that supports Hezbollah terrorist bombings that target innocent women, children and the elderly in Israel. Not for the leader of a country whose special forces and deadly weapons are smuggled into Iraq to kill American soldiers. And certainly not for a man whose obvious goal is to develop nuclear weapons to be used in a 21st century Holocaust against Israel and America. This is not about freedom of speech, but rather about giving a platform and credibility to an evil madman. This decision is typical of a university dominated by leftist, if not outright socialist, anti-American, anti-Israeli educators and administrators. It is an outrage and disgrace.

I just read a remarkable story in the news. A liberal (our version of Democrat) MP (Member of Parliament- our version of Congress) Belinda Stronach recently traveled to America for her breast cancer treatment. What? Now there's a grand endorsement for government-run health care, huh? She left her own country to get the best care that money could buy- in the USA. Does that surprise you? It shouldn't. Rich liberals have always been hypocrites- in any country, in any language. When I was a kid, I remember liberals fighting for school busing. They claimed to be fighting for equality for black children. They called anyone who opposed school busing a "racist." Yet as soon as busing became the law, they sent their kids to exclusive lily-white private schools. We called them "limosine liberals." Today you can find hypocrites just like that all over bastions of liberalism like Hollywood, Manhattan and San Francisco. Rich liberals support equality, equal opportunity and affirmative action- except at their homes, their businesses, and their own kid's schools. Rich liberals never think the rules apply to them. They think integrated public schools are great for YOUR kids- but not for their precious spoiled brats.

Obviously that liberal hypocrisy translates to health care too. The government-run health care system of Canada (a nice term for "Socialized Medicine") is good enough for you and your family- but not for the wealthy billionaire politicians like Belinda Stronach (who is the daughter of Canadian billionaire business mogul Frank Stronach). Now don't get me wrong. I support freedom of choice. I think what Belinda did was the right thing. If I was sick with cancer, I'd choose to go wherever I could get the best health care. It just so happens that Belinda agrees that this place for the best health care is found in America. Canadians by the millions understand that the "expensive" American health care system is the best- and they choose to cross the border nonstop for medical care they can't find at home. Now our health care system has been endorsed by a prominent liberal member of Canadian Parliament. You know, the same health care system that liberal Democrats here in America complain about day and night- and want to tear down to force government-run health care (otherwise known as "Socialized Medicine") down our throats. Of course a free-market Libertarian conservative like me supports Belinda Stronach seeking (and paying for) health care wherever she chooses. But why isn't that free market available to the rest of her countrymen? Why isn't the system that is forced down the throat of all Canadian citizens good enough for a billionaire member of parliament? You mean freedom of choice is something reserved only for the exclusive and privileged few?

Barack Obama and I both graduated from the same class at the same college- Columbia University, Class of '83. We both chose the same major-Political Science. Today we are both running for President of the United States. The only difference is that Barack is the darling of the liberal news media- who give him a "free pass" on whether he's qualified to run the greatest country and economy in world history. Since we come from such similar educational backgrounds, yet we each chose such divergent paths since graduation, I thought a study of what each has accomplished in the "real world" might shed some light on who is best qualified to occupy the White House and run the greatest economy in world history.

Upon graduation, I decided not to pursue a law degree and career as an attorney. I wanted to change the world, not sue the world. I therefore chose a career as an entrepreneur. My classmate Barack chose a very different path- he has spent much of the past quarter century as a law student, lawyer, law professor, community activist and career politician. Are those the qualifications for running the greatest economy in world history? Are those qualifications for commanding the greatest military force in world history? What is a "community activist" anyway? Isn't that just a professional protestor? Al Sharpton is a "community activist." What exactly has Mr. Sharpton ever done besides lead protest marches and attract media attention through fanning the flames of controversy? Does anyone think that Mr. Sharpton should run America? Or run the American economy? How is Barack's life experience any different?

A new study came out last week that proves that liberals (Democrats and Progressives) read more books than Conservatives (Republicans or Libertarians). Leading publishing executives even commented on it, saying that more books should be aimed at liberals because Conservatives just don't read. The inference, of course, is that Conservatives are ignorant, lazy, or just not intellectually curious. Meanwhile liberals will undoubtedly use these new "facts" to prove that they are intellectual heavyweights- the very kind of highly informed intellectuals who should be running our country. What a crock! The truth is that facts are many times misleading- and this is a perfect example. The fact is that liberals have the time to read books simply because they are rarely in positions of authority or leadership- they do not own businesses, run companies, or serve in positions of great responsibility. It's easy to find the time to read a book on a couch or lazy-boy when you get off work at 3 PM daily- and have no responsibilities once you walk out the office door. Unfortunately for the rest of us in positions of ownership and leadership, our days never end. We are making business calls, participating in conference calls, and answering emails at all hours of the day and night. For the people defined as "conservative" our responsibilities never end- leaving us little, if any, time to even fantasize about reading books.

Who are "conservatives?" Find me a General in the military- I'll show you a conservative. Find me a Head Coach in the sports world- I'll show you a conservative. Find me a business owner or entrepreneur- I'll show you a conservative (at least a fiscal conservative). Find me a Bank President or Wall Street investment banker- I'll show you a conservative. Find me a corporate CEO- I'll show you a conservative. Find me a small business owner- I'll show you a conservative. Find me a sales executive (stockbroker, real estate broker, insurance broker, mortgage broker)- I'll show you a conservative. Conservatives are simply defined as the "producers" of our economy- Americans with important jobs; in leadership positions; with great responsibility; the type of people that are "on the go" 24/7- who make our economy go and grow.

In another life, when I was still a huge Republican supporter and contributor, I hosted Karl Rove at my home (2 years ago) for a Republican Party fundraiser. The man known as "The Genius" of GOP political strategy sat next to me at my dining room table. We talked politics and discussed strategy for keeping the GOP in power for years to come. We both had the same goal- keeping our party in power long-term. But we each saw a very different picture and believed in very different strategies to accomplish that goal.

Rove thought that "playing to the base first and foremost" (to religious Christian conservatives) was the way to cement GOP dominance. I disagreed strongly- both at that meeting and in future letters to Rove, I made it clear that in the "real world" business circles that I traveled in, the GOP was fast losing support. I told him that the more "W" pandered to the religious right, the more crucial support they'd lose among moderates, independents, Libertarians, business owners, and Barry Goldwater Republicans. I told him that issues such as the Terri Schiavo fiasco (assisted suicide), gay rights, stem cell research, and the proposed ban on online gaming were all alienating at least two voters (moderates, independents, Libertarians and Goldwater conservatives) for every one religious Christian that was attracted to the GOP.

It's not easy to change your identification. I'm the guy who wrote the best-selling book "Millionaire Republican." My political identification has always been Republican- literally since birth. Just as I've always been a S.O.B. (Son of a Butcher). Yes my dad was a butcher. But not just any old butcher. David Root was a Jewish Republican butcher from Brownsville, Brooklyn- now that's unique! Dad was my inspiration in life- and he will always be my hero. (He died in 1992). In 1964, at the age of three, wrapped in his strong arms, he had me passing out political campaign brochures for Barry Goldwater. My father loved his Republican party and instilled that love in me.

"Son," he would say, "When the Democrats try to knock the Republicans for being the party of the rich, they have it all wrong. The GOP is not the party of the rich. The GOP is the party of anyone who wants to be rich…and desires the freedom to make it happen."

Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons did something amazing before the 2006 election- he made a promise to the voters to not raise taxes. That got him elected in the most Libertarian state in America. Then he did something even more amazing- he kept his promise to the voters and taxpayers. The howling, screaming, ranting, raving, complaining, protesting and predictions of disaster from the usual big-spending liberal suspects was deafening. Yet despite what all the "horrified" journalists, public employee unions, big-spending politicians, naysayers and liberal elite lucky-sperm-club snobs (blessed with big trust funds) said was impossible- Gov. Gibbons actually did it and Nevada (gasp!) is still standing. Can you imagine? It's actually possible to survive as a state without tax increases. Who would have ever believed that? To the contrary, Gibbons’ courageous stand guarantees that Nevada will remain one of the (if not THE) fastest growing states in all of America, with one of the fastest growing economies, the lowest unemployment, the best climate for entrepreneurship and home ownership, and the lowest taxes. That combination is no coincidence. South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, a true Libertarian, proved the same thing 3000 miles away from Nevada- Sanford too held the line on taxes and spending- he actually made drastic spending cuts. Like Gibbons, he too was vilified by liberal critics, savaged in the press, and attacked by politicians from his own Republican Party. Yet surprise of all surprises- Sanford won re-election by a landslide!

But champions of smaller government and lower taxes, like Governors Gibbons and Sanford, cannot afford to rest on their laurels now. None of us can afford for them to rest. Our work has just begun. Now comes the next big issue that courageous politicians (there are few) across America will have to face: the disaster of public employee unions looting taxpayers and devastating our children’s and grandchildren’s economic future with lavish wages, pensions and health care benefits.

I am the U.S. Presidential candidate that Ladbrokes of U.K. (the world’s largest legal bookmaker) calls the frontrunner for the Libertarian Presidential nomination. Ironically, in England (our best friend in the world and partner in the war on terror) millions of bettors (or “punters” as they call them on the other side of the Atlantic) are able to legally bet their hard-earned money on my chances of winning the Libertarian Party Presidential nomination (I’m the favorite). And they’re also legally betting on my odds of winning the White House (the odds are 100 to 1 against me). Ladbrokes has even set the odds on my likelihood of attracting the most votes of any Libertarian candidate in history (I’m a prohibitive favorite). Yet here in America, it would be a crime to take that bet. But why?

Almost 40 million Americans visit Las Vegas annually- making the gambling capital of America also our tourist capital. America has legal online horseracing. Many states have legalized slot machines being installed in horse racetracks across the country. Tribal gaming is thriving from coast to coast- with gambling revenues at tribal casinos in California alone now surpassing the Vegas Strip! We have legal state lotteries- and the recent online gaming law passed by Congress actually carved out exceptions for online state lotteries. So Americans can play the lottery on their computers- with state governments playing the role of casino. Poker shows dominate the airwaves of American television. And of course, stock investors gamble billions of dollars online every day- they bet on stocks like IBM, Microsoft and MGM Mirage with the stroke of a mouse and click on a computer keypad.

How typical of the American media. They specialize in creating "overnight sensations." Now they have instantly anointed Michael Bloomberg the next President of the United States. Why? Because he has big ideas? No. Interesting "out of the box" ideas? No. Is he the potential leader of a political revolution? No. The answer is simple: because he's a Billionaire (that's with a capital "B"). You see Michael Bloomberg is a very very very rich man! Perhaps $19 or $20 Billion dollars worth of rich (but hey what's a billion among friends). He could very easily spend $500 million, or perhaps even a billion of his own money on the race for the White House- and that's more than any campaign has ever spent before. That's a lot of buttons, bumper stickers and TV ads! And his biggest advantage of all is that it's his own money- so he doesn't have to waste valuable time attending fundraisers and sucking up to various special interests and rich fat cats. Bloomberg can just get out his checkbook and start writing checks. And this very rich guy can keep writing those checks forever!

But winning the Presidency isn't just about money (although it helps). If writing checks were all it took, Ross Perot would have been elected President. Or John Kerry. There's something everyone is forgetting or ignoring- the power of personality. From everything I've heard, Bloomberg is a nice man and a very bright man. As far as business goes, he's a genius. But by all accounts, he is not exciting. He is not bold. He is more of an administrator than a leader or visionary. He has been described by the media as a "non-political manager." In other words, he's exceedingly competent at managing things- whether they be a business, city or perhaps a country. But is that the kind of personality that wins national elections in the age of MTV and Paris Hilton? Is that the personality America is looking for to win over friends (and enemies) on the world stage? Is that the personality to reform and dramatically reduce government? Is that the personality to lead the war on terror?

The latest survey is out and the Top 11 "growing real estate markets" in the USA (according to the National Association of Realtors) are primarily low tax red states (meaning states that voted Republican in the last Presidential election). 8 of the 11 are in red states, while one of the 3 blue states is a state with no state income tax (Washington). So it could be argued that 9 of the top 11 fastest growing cities in America are located in low tax states. What a surprise! Even after Republicans have lost power and respect from the voters, Americans still choose FISCAL CONSERVATISM. You know what it's called when you're fiscally conservative, but socially liberal? Libertarian. That my fellow fiscal conservatives, is why I switched from the GOP to LP (Libertarian Party). I did not leave the GOP. The Republican Party left me when it embraced extreme religious right wing "out of the mainstream" views on issues such as Terri Schiavo, abortion, gay rights, stem cell research, etc. And to top it off, abandoned fiscal restraint by presiding over the greatest government expansion in modern political history.

But nothing has changed when it comes to money. A majority of Americans may no longer vote Republican, but they are still fiscally conservative. The proof is in the places they choose to live. Americans are voting with their feet and their wallets by relocating to places where taxes are lower, government spending is therefore lower, and freedom for entrepreneurs is higher. The Top 11 markets for 2007 are:

For years I've talked about the nonstop exaggerations and biased observations of the American news media. In a recent commentary, I pointed to the media's obsession with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg as a prime example. Promoting Bloomberg as a viable third party Presidential candidate creates controversy, excitement and headlines- thereby raising news ratings and profits (even if, in fact, Bloomberg is as boring as watching paint dry, and he has little chance of winning the Presidency). That's my media! They never fail to let me down- and they never let facts or professional objectivity get in the way of a good story.

But this past week featured perhaps the most exaggerated and ridiculous media headline yet. Did you notice the nonstop headlines about the weather in Vegas, Phoenix and the Southwest USA? It was hard to miss. Day and night they were featured in every national newspaper and news broadcast. The headlines literally screamed: "It's Excessively Hot in Vegas and Phoenix!" The media droned on and on for days about the record-setting heat. Can you imagine? Heat in the summertime in Vegas and Phoenix? It boggles the imagination! How could it be so hot in the desert in the summer? Hard to believe, huh? A real tragedy in the making. Oh my God- it must be global warming destroying the world.
