African-American religious leaders from across the state and the country joined together today the Avery Center in Charleston, SC to rally in support Barack Obama and announce the formation of Senator Obama’s national and state-wide African-American Religious Leadership Committees.

Excepts from today’s news from Iowa
The poll by the Des Moines Register, the state’s largest newspaper, showed Obama with a three-point edge over national front-runner Hillary Clinton in Iowa, 28 percent to 25 percent, and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards third at 23 percent.
Mr. Obama and Mr. Edwards have an obvious shared interest in stopping Mrs. Clinton from coming in first in Iowa. But there is another outcome that aides to Mr. Obama and Mr. Edwards (and Mrs. Clinton) have begun to think about these days — that Mrs. Clinton may come in third.
That is a very real possibility, given the apparent strength of Mr. Obama and Mr. Edwards and the way the caucuses work. Under the rules, a candidate who receives fewer than 15 percent of the votes in a particular precinct on caucus night is deemed unviable there,
Dec. 4: Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued this statement this afternoon, in response to comments made by Pres. Bush during a White House press conference regarding Iran:
“In October, President Bush raised the specter of World War III with Iran because of its pursuit of a nuclear weapon months after he had been told by our own intelligence community it was likely Iran had halted its weapons program in 2003.

Dec. 4: Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Joe Biden told a crowd of 200 in the Iowa City Library yesterday that if Pres. Bush starts a war with Iran without congressional approval, he would call for the president’s impeachment. Biden’s comment, which brought cheers from the audience, came the same day a U.S. NIE report said Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003.
He said he was putting the Bush Administration “on notice” with his impeachment warning, saying the Constitution would require that Congress give the OK for a war. “War with Iran is not just a bad option, it would be a disaster,” he said.
Dec. 4: When the crisis in Pakistan erupted in early November, the world’s leaders phoned Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Joe Biden. The Quad-City Times reported that U.S. Deputy Sec’y of State John Negroponte called Sen. Biden in the middle of a stump speech for the latest on Pakistan. And weeks before Musharraf hit the news, Biden sounded the alarm on Pakistan during a nationally televised debate while others were focused on Iran.
So it should come as no surprise that the Delaware senator’s expertise on Middle East affairs has won over many Democratic party loyalists in Northeast Iowa. Local party leaders say he has strong support among veteran caucus-goers in counties like Black Hawk, Clinton and Fayette.
Dec. 4: Here’s a secret we found this weekend, thanks to a release from Pew Research Inc. Iowa (caucus date January 3, 2008) and New Hampshire (primary date January 8, 2008) may THINK they’ll get the first votes in the primaries, but take a look at this:
* Overseas and military voters from California have a right to get a primary ballot starting in five days — this Friday, Dec. 7.
Obama supporters all over the country are weighing in, one by one, contributing what they can to make the point loud and clear: the Barack Obama campaign is grounded in the positive promise of hope. When other campaigns attack, this movement responds — not with more negativity — but with resounding support for Barack Obama.
Here are a few clips from today’s NPR/ Iowa Public Radio Presidential Debate:

MSNBC.com has an article on how we’re educating folks about the caucus:
You may have noticed that over the past couple of weeks that there have been one or two attacks on Barack Obama. You may have also noticed that Barack Obama has taken the lead in several new polls out of Iowa. These are not unrelated, of course.
While the Clinton goes after Barack Obama for everything up to and including what he dreamed about as a third grader, we are building a strong, grassroots organization on the ground in Iowa and across the country. It is resonating with ordinary people everywhere — people who are sick of the same old politics and want something new.
Here’s a great letter to the editor from the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
