Scenes from Mile High: The doors are open
August 28, 2008
The doors of Mile High are open and thousands of people are already inside the stadium waiting for Senator Obama’s speech.

Jodi, a Denver native, brought her daughter August to Mile High to see Barack’s speech. Jodi told us why she is supporting Barack:
Because it’s time for a change, it’s for my kids’ future. I’m doing this for my children, so that’s why I’m here and why I was excited to bring my daughter. It’s history in the making — she may not get it now but when she’s my age it’ll mean a lot to her. This is the first time in history that they’ve allowed someone like me, someone like my daughter to see the speech.

We also talked to a group who had traveled up from Colorado Springs for the speech. Angie told us how excited she was to be apart of today. She said:
It’s a dream come true. We’ve worked really hard and it’s all come to fruition. It’s really wonderful.

Another one of the group, Kevin, talked about what how this campaign has affected Colorado. He said:
I just feel like we’re at a really amazing point in history right now and it’s amazing to be a part of it. This has been so exciting for Colorado and Colorado Springs. It’s amazing the number of Democrats that have come out of the woodwork. You tend to feel isolated in an environment like that, but it’s really amazing to see how people come together and really start getting behind this campaign; it offers hope.
