Senator Ted Kennedy in Ohio
February 17, 2008
Senator Ted Kennedy traveled around Ohio today on behalf of Senator Obama, making stops in Cleveland, Youngstown, and Akron.

At events at Youngstown State University and the Akron Alpha Center, Senator Kennedy spoke to crowds of a few hundred people about Barack’s commitment to improving our nation’s economy and preventing jobs from going overseas.
He said:
Barack will stop the shipment of good American jobs out of the country. It can be done by ending all of the corporate loopholes and bringing jobs back here to America. We need to invest in people, invest in community, and invest in infrastructure. When he is President, Barack will make sure that all over Ohio, all over the industrial heartland of this country, people can find jobs that pay a decent wage.
Senator Kennedy also spoke about Barack inspires Americans to believe in the promise of our country again. He said:
We have seen so many young people turned off by government. We’ve had the politics of fear, the politics of special interests. Barack inspires young people to want to give back to their country…Do for Barack Obama what you did for John Kennedy. Let’s stand together for Barack Obama.
After the event in Akron, I spoke to Sondra, a child welfare supervisor.

Sondra likes Barack’s commitment to family values. She’s excited to vote for Barack in the primary on March 4 because she says, "this year we’ve got the opportunity to make history for the right reasons."
Sondra’s been emailing her friends, family, and fellow church members to let them know about Barack, and is excited to start volunteering in the Akron office.
