Important

February 29, 2008

Hillary sent out the following message today:

Dear Friend,

We need 30,000 donors in the next 48 hours to help Hillary win on March 4.

I think everyone knows how important the races we face on March 4 are. But there’s one thing you need to know: I am relying on you to win.

You are my best supporters, and over the past weeks you have made this campaign your own. Now with just a few days to go before the critical March 4 contests, I have to ask you to act one more time — because you can make a difference on Tuesday.

We are making our final push in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont and we need you to reach deep and make a contribution to my campaign today.

I know that this may be the first time you have made a donation online, but imagine if 30,000 online supporters like you each make a contribution to our campaign in the next 48 hours. A donation of as little as $5 can make the difference and will send a message that voters in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont will hear loud and clear.

Contribute now to win big on March 4.

I’m campaigning nonstop between now and Tuesday. You and I know what is at stake — our ability to stand up and fight for the values we believe in.

We’ve defied expectations before. We’ve won when they counted us out. Together we can win big on March 4 and keep on winning until we are in the White House.

But it all comes down to what we do today. If 30,000 of you make your voice heard with a contribution, even as little as $5, you will be speaking loud and clear with one voice — a voice that no one will be able to ignore.

Contribute now to win in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

You have sacrificed and spoken out, given your time and money so that we can win. But I have never needed you like I do today, and I hope that you will be there for me.

Thank you so much for everything that you do.

Sincerely,

Hillary
Hillary Rodham Clinton

Here is our total so far, let’s keep the momentum going!

Week In Pictures: Calling for Change

February 29, 2008

The response to last week’s slideshow was great, and we’ll be keeping the Week In Pictures as a regular feature from here on out. But this week, we’re doing things a bit differently.

This week, we have work to do

There are only four more days until the crucial contests in Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island. With close races predicted in all four states, every vote counts.

From the beginning, this movement has been about more than giant crowds, non-stop campaigning and the media glare. This movement has been about ordinary people reaching out to talk to family, friends, neighbors – and yes, even strangers – one person at a time.

No matter where you are, you can help make a difference this weekend.

We’re asking our supporters all across the country to use our online phonebanking tools to make one million calls to potential voters by Tuesday.

Whether you can help for one hour or one night, whether you can make 10 calls or one hundred calls or even a 1000, this is your chance to help make a difference.

So as an added inspiration for those about to begin calling and for those taking a break from the day’s calls, today’s slideshow is a look at just a few of the thousands of people who have given their time and their labor over the past 12 months to help change politics in America:

Video: Alamobama

February 29, 2008

Long before our campaign set up shop in Texas, AlamObama was laying the ground work for us.

What began in a book store by eight people a year ago is now a group of hundreds of dedicated volunteers that are engaging their communities and spreading Barack’s message of change.

We visited the office and spoke with one of the co-founders, Judy Hall, earlier today:

NOW is your opportunity to get involved!  You can sign up for a volunteer shift at our GOTV page.

We also did another video with Alamobama a few months ago. Check it out.

Senator Jay Rockefeller Endorses Obama

February 29, 2008

CHICAGO, IL – Today, Senator Jay Rockefeller, the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, endorsed Barack Obama for president, citing his judgment on the Iraq war and national security issues, and calling him the right candidate to lead our country during a time of instability at home and abroad.

Senator Rockefeller said, “Today, I’m proud to lend my support and strong endorsement to Barack Obama and his candidacy for President of the United States. Barack Obama is the most qualified person – Democrat or Republican – to lead our country in the face of enormous challenges – the very real threat of terrorism, economic uncertainty, and instability at home and abroad.

“As Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I am all too aware that the threats we face are unconventional.  They are sophisticated.  They are constantly changing and adapting.  And they are very serious. What matters most in the Oval Office is sound judgment and decisive action.  It’s about getting it right on crucial national security questions the first time – and every time.

“The indisputable fact is Barack Obama was right about Iraq when many of us were wrong.  It was a tough call and the single greatest national security question, and mistake, of our time.  Today, we remain a country at war, and countless mistakes over the last six and a half years have made us less safe.  The stakes have never been higher, and that is why we must take a stand.

“I am not just supporting Barack Obama because of his strength on national security.  I am equally proud of his commitment to rebuild America – so that we’re a country of equality and prosperity – where no segment of society is left behind.  I know Barack Obama will fight and win the battle for health care, good paying jobs, and energy security.

“Barack Obama is a uniquely gifted, brilliant and strategic thinker, who genuinely understands the hopes and desires of the American people.  There is nothing sheltered about his life; he’s always had to work hard, and he’s always fought to make his community and his country better.

“A leader like Barack Obama just doesn’t come along very often, and as voters who care passionately about the future of our country, we cannot afford to squander this opportunity.”

Senator Obama said, “Senator Rockefeller’s leadership in the Senate has strengthened our national security and advanced economic opportunity, and I am honored to have his support. Nobody understands the unconventional threats of the 21st century better than Jay Rockefeller, and I look forward to partnering with him as President to strengthen our intelligence community and protect our homeland. Together, we will work to reclaim the American Dream for working families at home, and to restore our security and standing abroad.”
