Hizzoner’s Highlights – September 17th
September 17, 2007
Good morning!
First off, apologies for a late delivery today, but there was some mid-morning news worth waiting for. The President named Judge Michael Mukasey, a member of our Judicial Advisory Committee, to be the next Attorney General. Judge Mukasey and Mayor Giuliani have a long history as both colleagues and friends – working together over the years. The Mayor offered Judge Mukasey only praise this morning during a live radio interview on WRNN – AM from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina:
MAYOR GIULIANI: "[Judge Mukasey is] just a wonderful choice. I mean, Michael is a brilliant lawyer; he was a judge for 18 years, one of the most distinguished judges in the country. He was the Chief Judge in the Southern District of New York, and of all the lawyers I worked with I’d have to put him right near the top as one of the brightest and smartest. And the other thing about Michael, which I’m sure commended itself to the President, was Michael is a man of total, absolute integrity."
And in case you missed it yesterday, the Mayor spent the day at the New Hampshire International Speedway. H shook hands as he strolled through the garages and made a stop at the drivers’ meeting. Check out this story from the Laconia Citizen which features driver Number 99 Carl Edwards meeting with the Mayor:
Have a great day –
