The big news from Iowa

September 30, 2007

In case you didn’t see it, here’s the email David Plouffe sent out today:

Dear Samuel,

Last night our movement hit some landmark goals: more than 500,000 donations from more than 350,000 people.

We also got news yesterday from Iowa — we’re leading in the latest Newsweek poll of likely caucus-goers. Here’s the breakdown:

Obama: 28%

Clinton: 24%

Edwards: 22%

And our lead climbs to 8 points when first and second choices are combined.

It’s important to remember that deciding the Democratic nominee for president is a sequential process that begins in Iowa. Generating momentum early will be the key to winning the nomination.

So while the pundits focus on meaningless national polls, we are leading in the one state where the electorate is most focused on this election and where they are getting the most exposure to Barack.

That same dynamic explains the unprecedented number of donors to our movement. The American people by and large have not yet tuned into this election. But among those who have gotten involved, Barack Obama has inspired record numbers to take ownership of this campaign.

We have a long way to go, but because of your support and determination, we are shattering records and making progress where it counts most.

Thank you so much for everything you’ve done to make this happen.

David

P.S. — You’ve helped make this happen, but there’s still time to invite someone you know to be part of this historic moment. The deadline for donations is midnight tonight, so please reach out to a friend now:

Obama Mama Match

September 30, 2007

Celeste"Hold on–I’ll get my guitar."

Within ten minutes of our conversation, Celeste had her fiance holding the phone on her end, and a rapt, foot-tapping Obama blogger here in Chicago.

With a catchy chorus and a country twang (not to mention a great voice), Celeste wowed this listener with a pretty incredible original song and an ear for all things rhyming with Obama.

"Barack Obama," she said after her performance, "has the three magic words: Honest, Kind, Listens."

Celeste has been teaching in Baltimore’s public education system for thirty years.

"No Child Left Behind has to be changed.  It has a lot of good aspects, but it’s going in the whole wrong direction and needs to be addressed.  That’s why I’m an Obama Mama."

She’s a teacher, so she doesn’t make a lot of money–but she wants to give as much as she can.  Instead of donating one lump sum, she decided to give multiple donations to the Match program.  "I broke up what I could give into smaller donations to encourage more people to get involved," she said.  "That’s what this whole campaign is about: it’s the philosophy of being inclusive."

Celeste has plans to tape a video for her new song tomorrow, so keep an eye on YouTube.

Make a Match donation yourself and double your impact.  Today is the last day of the financial quarter…so time is of the essence.

We’ve surpassed our goal of 500,000 donations from 350,000 people. These totals are nothing short of remarkable.

Together, we have built a profound movement for change, and we’re already making an impact. In Iowa, Barack is leading among likely caucus-goers. Click here to see how you can continue to help strengthen our efforts in this critical early state.

You can still donate by midnight tonight and double your impact. Tell us your Match story in the comments section below and share your thoughts on being a part of this movement.

End of Quarter Donations

September 30, 2007

Tonight at midnight marks the end of what could possibly be the final fundraising deadline before the Iowa Caucuses and New Hampshire Primary.

The contributions from donors small and large that we receive online has allowed us to build a strong organization in the early states and shapes the national debate on Iraq and restoring the Constitution.

But with the clock ticking towards midnight, we are going to ask one last time. Can you contribute in support of Chris Dodd’s Presidential campaign before time runs out?

http://www.chrisdodd.com/donate

We need your help today so we can continue fighting to restore the Constitution and end the war in Iraq. We want to enable Senator Dodd to spend more time on the road, talking with voters about the issues you care about. Your contribution today will help us continue to grow Chris Dodd’s campaign to provide leadership when America leads it most.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Matt

Thank you!!

Dr. Paul was campaigning in New Hampshire with his wife Carol and their family when our $1,000,000 goal was reached last night.  As the time drew near, they watched on a laptop as the counter reached the $1 million mark.  They, along with staff, supporters and volunteers throughout the country then celebrated this extraordinary accomplishment.

Over $1,000,000 raised in seven days for the Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign.  Remarkable!

On behalf of Dr. Paul and every member of the campaign staff:  Thank you!!

Kids For Edwards- It's our Choice for the Future, Now or Never

September 30, 2007

This is  Duncan Hosie- and I am the 13 year old founder of Kids For Edwards (www.kidsforedwards.org). Over the past week, I have been campaigning for John in Iowa- visiting middle schools and high schools in 5 counties, from Des Moines to Ames.
From Global Warming to Poverty, so many issues cloud  my future, and that of my generation.  Before these issues are passed onto us we must take a stand. We can “stay the course” with 4 more years of a Conservative Republican (Rudy, Romney) or Conservative Democrat (Clinton) and do permanet damage that will live on past the days we die, or fight for John Edwards and win the Primaries and the General Election.  It’s our choice- now or never for our future. When we are old, we will look back and say what were we doing? We must take a stand before it is too late.

No Timetable – No Money – uh, nevermind…

“It’s all but assured that after much public hand-wringing and bold denouncements our collective “representatives” will meekly capitulate.”

I hate it when I am right. Not too long ago I posted this comment because I was tired, and discouraged and well, dammit, I was p****d. Well freakin’ call me Miss Cleo:
